A message from Sue Mackenzie, FLCA Chairperson:

After hearing from local residents along Wright Street regarding excessive speeds and the continuing safety concerns, we sent a request to the Township for assistance. They have provided us with a Service Request Number 141707 and it has been sent to the appropriate department for follow-up.

The speed along Wright Street is 50kph which is consistent with posted speeds elsewhere in the Township. As children and their families visit and enjoy the popular Molenaar farm to watch the goats, ducks, peacocks and chickens or stop by to pick up eggs nearby, concerns have been expressed about the traffic along Wright Street. One other factor that increases the mix of car and pedestrian traffic is the installation of the community mailboxes in front of the farm.

There are no sidewalks and the shoulders are very narrow for pedestrians and cyclists, not to mention the flashing lights at the slow to 30 kph blind corner only works in one direction. There are no speed calming bumps on Wright Street in spite of the traffic volume coming off 88th & 96th Ave. As suggested, we have made a request to the Langley RCMP Volunteer Speed Watch group and look forward to their assistance as a first step.
