Mosquito Update – 2025 Season Outlook

This year’s mosquito season is expected to be milder than average due to low snowpack levels and a reduced risk of spring flooding along the Lower Fraser River.

🧊 According to the BC River Forecast Centre’s Snow Survey & Water Supply Bulletin, the provincial snowpack sits well below normal, suggesting less floodwater mosquito habitat will form this spring and summer.

💧 That said, unusual weather—like heavy rains or rapid warm-ups—can still trigger mosquito outbreaks. Monitoring and control efforts in the Township of Langley are already underway, with field crews preparing to act quickly as river levels rise.

Residents are encouraged to:

  • Eliminate standing water around their homes
  • Use screens and repellents.
  • Report mosquito concerns via the MVRD Mosquito Hotline at 604-432-6228
