Langley Council has approved $4 million from the Capital Projects Reserve to restore Fort Langley’s historic Haldi House to its 1908 design, including the removal of later additions and updating utilities, while preserving its historical integrity. Additionally, $100,000 has been allocated to design a pedestrian overpass connecting the waterfront lands with Parks Canada’s site. These efforts are part of a broader plan to revitalize the waterfront into a vibrant community hub, approved during the council meeting on April 15, 2024. The Council has also authorized staff to proceed to public consultation in accordance with the report and schedule the first Fort Langley Waterfront Lands public open house for Thursday, May 16, 2024, addressing concerns over potential over-commercialization and the authenticity of restoration efforts.
