Fort Langley Community Association is accepting designs for the main banners displayed in Fort Langley. The Fort Langley Community Association (FLCA) is the administrator of the community street banners in Fort Langley and is pleased to offer this opportunity to showcase the designs of local artists. The new banner design will replace the current banner (shown below) at 28 locations in the main commercial areas of Fort Langley and will remain up throughout the year.  The banner design is open to any type of art or graphics that convey the spirit of the village of Fort Langley.  The banner design must be adaptable to the banner dimensions.

Submissions will be reviewed by the FLCA Banner Committee based on the following criteria:

  • Interpretation and clarity of the theme in the artist’s explanation and artwork
  • Creativity and originality of the depicted theme and artwork
  • Suitability for use banner design

Submission Deadline: October 1, 2023, 5:00 pm

Design Criteria:
Submitted artwork will be reviewed by the FLCA Banner Committee based on the following criteria:

  • Interpretation and clarity of the theme in the artist’s explanation and artwork
  • Creativity and originality of the depicted theme and artwork
  • Suitability for use in a banner design
  • Bright, vibrant colours with lots of contrast would be best suited for high visibility of the outdoor banners and signage.

The top three finalists may have their designs submitted to Fort Langley residents to assist in the decision process.

Eligibility:
This call is open to applications from both established and emerging visual artists in the Township of Langley.

Compensation:
The selected artist will be provided with a fee of $1000 for use of their artwork and will enter into a Licensing Agreement with the FLCA. The artist and their artwork will also be featured in FLCA communications materials.
