Re: Truck route through Fort Langley. I can see in the past that there was a move to try and create a different option. I am a daily cycle commuter from Bradner to Fort Langley on river road. I noticed a dramatic increase in truck traffic through town and out river road. I decided to count for one hour. 35 tandem trucks per hour 5 days a week. I was trying to see if that correlated to a drop in customer or tourist use… I had started to notice a drop of customers in one of my favorite stores. I wanted to know if it was true. I had noticed a drop in the usual elderly bikeriders I would pass on the road. I have heard from the service counter that tourists and bikeriders have been commenting on the trucks… she said one of the trucks did a hit and run outside the store. I could not on Mary and glover believe the line up down glover and the three tandems lined up…I stood at mavis and glover and watched the tandem move fully into the left hand turn lane and still could not clear the corner going east without the car facing west backing up. There is also three places of great concern as a bike rider … the trucks are cutting the corner leaving Fort langle and the back half of the tandem swings over the white line… there is also a place just east of the fort that has a dip in the road and it throws the back half of the tandem over the white line heading west into Fort Langley. I will also write to both Abbotsford and Langley township as the trucks are heading to the corner of dyke and grey road … I could ask more stores if they are feeling the drop in customers but I am going to ask you to do this…. I also noticed if the trucks have to wait for cars trying to park, they then excessively accelerate after the fact. If there is anything you can do or address that would be great. I am also going to contact both municipality rcmp and city police… both engineering departments and newspapers as well. It is extremely unsafe as well as affecting the town of Fort Langley… Dianne 604 312 4678.
