The FLCA 2018 Community Survey now Active!

The Fort Langley Community Association has now prepared the FLCA 2018 Community Survey to identify matters that are important to residents and businesses of Fort Langley.  You can access and fill out the online survey HERE

In 2017 over 2400 surveys were mailed out to every household in Fort Langley and to ensure coverage an additional 1500 surveys were hand-delivered to homes and businesses.   We had a great response of 359 surveys filled out and returned to us for counting.  The previous 2016 Survey had 277  responses.  This shows a nearly 30% increase in involvement in he survey which we believe is a direct result of the work the FLCA was able to accomplish in 2017 using the 2016 survey results to direct our efforts.

Most respondents put a lot of thought, time and energy into their written answers and we ended up with 22 full single-spaced pages of written text answers/comments on top of all the multiple choice questions.

The FLCA used all this feedback to provide a comprehensive and detailed report to Township Council in person in the Fall of 2017.   We also used the feedback to help identify goals and plans for the Fort Langley Community Association for the rest of 2017 and into 2018, including organizing and running a Fort Langley Community Crime Prevention Presentation along with the RCMP.  In early 2018 we also are happy to see our request to Township Council fulfilled and very obvious lighted pedestrian-controlled crosswalk lights installed on 96th Ave at Edal and Crickmer.

We also continue to push for removing the official truck route through Fort Langley as well as proper intersection lights at Glover and Mavis.    There was also significant feedback about the things you want to see in Fort Langley, the services you use and your thoughts on the future development of Fort Langley.

What can you do?

Much of the feedback from the 2017 survey has allowed us to continue to zero in on certain areas you feel strongly about as well as tracking usage of the Fort area businesses, activities and events in our new 2018 survey.    If you filled out a 2017 survey, it’s important to us if you could also complete a 2018 survey as it will help us track trends and community thoughts as well as further information on areas that were highlighted in the 2017 responses.   If you did not fill out a 2017 survey, we hope you will consider filling in our 2018 version.   As we did last year, we will present our findings to Township Council as well as set our future 2018 and 2019 goals and plans.   Your feedback counts and we make sure it’s value is captured and used to help our community!

As per the beginning of this post the FLCA 2018 Community Survey now Active!  You can Access it right HERE (click on the link word “HERE”).

I have a concern about the railway crossing at the intersection at Billy Brown Rd and Glover. This is not an ordinary railway crossing. On weekends there are more pedestrians than cars that cross the railway, and ther are no designated crosswalks. People cross in all directions unsafley. I realize that there are big plans in the future for this intersection, but I feel something should be done now for the safety of the pedestrians.

Thanks for posting the application information for Whistling Cessation, Andre. I wonder if the process has been previously pursued? I’d certainly be in favour of submission.
IF cessation was found to be feasible….would the Township or Fort Langley bear any liability? (And I’m not asking this of you directly, just wondering.) I assume the feasibility process would be understandably rigorous…..

Hello. The last page of the survey has a “Submit” button. When you get to that page (after filling in your responses on the previous survey pages), just click on the “Submit” button and it will automatically be sent to us for adding to all the results. Thank you!

Its time for the association to take action against Eric Woodward. His buildings, his bullying tactics and his flagrant violation of our community development requirements are affecting Fort businesses, costing taxpayers by tying up Township resources and legal costs, and he is holding our community ransom. Our community plans and building requirements are a part of our democratic process. Mr Woodward is hurting our democracy and he is not welcome in my community.

A suggestion for the 2018 survey; include a question regarding the elimination of the train whistle at our two crossings. Now would be a good time with CN at the table for the new proposed development.
